WIC Racial-Ethnic Group Enrollment Data 2014

Enrollment for the WIC Program in April 2014 totaled 9,303,254.  Of this total, Whites accounted for 5,465,188 (58.74%), Blacks or African Americans 1,892,153 (20.34%), American Indian/Alaskan Natives 1,032,651 (11.10%), Multiple Race 506,270 (5.44%), Asians 309,260 (3.32%), Hawaiian/Pacific Islanders 78,229 (0.84%).

Information on the Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Act

Section 4104 of the Farm Bill  directs  USDA to issue guidance to promote awareness of donations of apparently wholesome food by qualified direct donors protected under section 22(c) of the Child Nutrition Act of 1966 . This guidance only applies to privately donated foods provided to TEFAP state agencies and eligible recipient agencies  and is not applicable to USDA Foods provided through TEFAP.

Planning for WIC's Future Technology Needs: A Report to Congress

This report responds to a Congressional mandate for the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) to establish a long-range plan for the development and implementation of State agency Information Systems (IS) in the WIC Program. In the development of this plan, FNS reviewed State agency system capabilities and consulted with the National WIC Association as well as systems experts. The WIC 5-Year Technology Plan included in this Report to Congress outlines the Agency’s goals, objectives, and strategies to address the current and future needs of WIC systems.
