Electronic Notice Waivers and Options

FNS has reexamined the SNAP electronic notice (e-notice) waiver, which allows states to provide designated notices to households through an online account on a secure website or portal instead of mailing paper notices to physical addresses. This memo serves to notify SNAP state agencies that sending e-notices and informing clients that they have a new notice via email is now a state option, provided that the state meets each of the conditions described in the memo.

Face-to-Face Interview Waiver Criteria

This is to advise you that we are expanding our criteria for the approval of waivers of the face-to-face interview at both initial and recertification. We also wish to note that since state agencies already may waive the face-to-face interview on an individual case basis based on a finding of hardship, we are now categorizing these waivers as waivers of the requirement that state agencies document hardship prior to utilizing alternatives to the face-to-face interview.
