Reimbursement of Intra-State Transportation Costs During Disasters

During a Presidentially declared disaster/emergency, or during a situation of distress declared by a state or the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), the state may find it necessary to transport USDA Foods from one area within the state to another in support of disaster feeding efforts.  These intra-state transportation costs will be reimbursed by FNS during a Presidentially declared disaster/emergency, and reimbursed by FNS to the extent funds are available during situations of distress.

Section 231 of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, PL 111-296, requires that USDA establish a program to recognize WIC local agencies and clinics that demonstrate exemplary breastfeeding promotion and support activities.

This information includes, at a minimum, income and nutritional risk characteristics of participants, information on breastfeeding incidence and duration, and participation in the program by category (pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women; infants; and children) within each priority level (as established in 7 CFR 246.7 (e)(4)) and by migrant farmworker households. The study affirms USDA's Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services' fourth strategic goal for 2014-2018: to ensure all of America's children have access to safe, nutritious, and balanced meals.
