FNS issued eight child nutrition programs off-site monitoring fact sheets to assist states and sponsors in conducting off-site monitoring of child nutrition programs during the pandemic. These documents include a fact sheet that has background information on all programs, as well as separate facts sheets for state and local operators for each program.

Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) Fact Sheets

The Summer Food Service Program, also known as the Summer Meals Program, was established to ensure that children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session. When school is out, SFSP provides free meals to kids and teens in low-income areas. The fact sheets (in English or Spanish) provides information about how SFSP works and what you can do to participate in Summer Meals.

Update of Food Crediting in the Child Nutrition Programs

This memorandum informs stakeholders on the progress made by the Food and Nutrition Service in updating the food crediting system for all child nutrition programs (CNP), including the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Child and Adult Care Food Program, and Summer Food Service Program. This is a first step by FNS towards improving the CNP crediting system to best address today’s evolving food and nutrition environment and meet the needs of those operating and benefiting from the CNPs.
