Claims For Losses of Donated Foods and Related Administrative Losses - Procedures for the State Distributing Agency (FNS - Instruction 410-1)

The purpose of this instruction is to establish the general standards and procedures that the state distributing agency must follow in order to ensure that restitution is made for the loss of donated foods, or for the loss or improper use of funds provided for, or accruing from, the distribution of donated foods.

Setting aside the Commodity Acceptability Reporting Requirement

In an effort to reduce reporting burden, the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) is setting aside the requirement in 7 CFR 250.13(k) that the distributing agency submit a commodity acceptability report (form FNS-663) to FNS, utilizing information collected from recipient agencies in the National School Lunch Program, the Child and Adult Care Food Program, the Commodity Supplemental Food program, the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations, and the Nutrition Services Incentive Program.

Filipino Veterans Equity Compensation Fund Payments

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (PL 111-5) created the Filipino Veterans Equity Compensation Fund for certain veterans, or surviving spouses of veterans, who served in the military of the Government of the Commonwealth of the Philippines during World War II. Section 1002(c) of PL 111-5 directs the Secretary of Veteran Affairs to provide one time payments of up to $15,000 to eligible individuals.
